A group of professional comedians and entertainers congregated on Wednesday, May 23 for the third annual Samo girls’ volleyball comedy night fundraiser. The fundraiser’s proceeds go towards paying for the volleyball team’s Ann Kang tournament in Hawaii.

The comedians who performed are regularly featured on television shows and in comedy acts, as well as in comedy clubs around the country.

According to the volleyball players, the team is eager to travel to the tournament in Hawaii, but funds are a major problem. However, the players say this fundraiser has helped a lot.

“The more people who support us, the more we can focus on our game and the more of a chance we have for a positive outcome this summer,” junior volleyball player Joslyn Hayes said.

The comedy night was headed by Janine Hayes, Joslyn’s mother, who brought together comedians Amy Anderson, Bernadette Balagtas, Chris Walsh and Tracie Walker to join her in performing.

Joslyn Hayes said that this night will have a direct effect on the volleyball’s training and success.

“We have a long way to go,” Hayes said. “But hopefully we can fundraise enough to send all of our girls to Hawaii because we deserve it. We need the money to go, and we need to go to get better.”
