On Nov. 2, the Los Angeles (LA) Dodgers managed to bring the World Series title home for the second year in a row. The Dodgers made it into the World Series, but that wasn’t where they stopped. They played hard in all seven games and managed to get a win, even with a target on their backs.
The Toronto Blue Jays started the series off strong by beating the Dodgers with a score of 11-4. The sequence of games were back and forth, with the Dodgers winning the next two games and the Blue Jays winning the following two. The Blue Jays had the momentum, but the Dodgers took the next win, leading them to the finals. The final game to close the world series was extremely fast paced and exciting with one dodger homerun scored by Miguel Rojas to tie the game, leading up to Will Smith earning the final point to get ahead of the Blue Jays. The game ended with the Dodgers strong defense getting a quick double play to finish the game.
The following Monday there was a celebratory parade downtown where tens of thousands of fans gathered to commemorate and enjoy winning the championship series. Across LA, there are countless Dodgers fans, and many of them attend Samo. Travel Havel (’27), one of Samo’s Dodgers fans, expressed his excitement about the win.
“I have been a Dodgers fan my whole life because my dad grew up in LA and he really loves them,” Havel said. “My favorite Dodgers player is Freddy Freeman because I was at the game where he hit the walk-off homerun, and I was really happy, and I got to celebrate with my friends and family.”
Brooklyn Bell (’29), talked about her feelings on the back to back championship title.
“I am very excited for next season, and I hope I can go to a game and I know we are going to get a three-peat,” Bell said.
Although the current focus regarding baseball is the general win, it is also important to highlight some of LA’s rising baseball stars, like the well known Shohei Ohtani. He has been performing extremely well since he came to LA from Japan and has been excelling ever since. Ohtani has been playing with the Dodgers since 2023 and is a great player, from hitting to pitching and his overall character as an athlete. He has continued to be a strong attribute to the Dodgers as they continue to strive, hitting 63 home runs in all of 2025 and pitching 62 strikeouts. After the game, Ohtani left Toronto with a speech leaving his fans excited for the next season.
“I’m ready to get another ring next year,” Ohtani said.
